Uradlia Show

The Uraidla Show will soon be upon us.  It is on 6th November 2022.

Last year we had the best quantity (and quality) of submissions yet.  It just keeps getting better.  So can I encourage people to get their submissions sorted?

The Uraidla Show is one of the State’s biggest country shows, and yet it is quite relaxed and a lot of fun.  Please don’t feel intimidated or that you may not be up to scratch.  Give it a go. You may be surprised and you will probably learn something.

This is a picture from the Mt Barker Show (where we won the Best Section prize). You will see the jars at the front that entrant’s should use.

Cut comb should be submitted in something like a take-away dish.  But ensure you rest it on a wire cake tray before putting it in the box.  This way the cut edges can drain.  Submissions should not be sitting in a pool of honey.

Frames of honey should look appealing.  Frames should be clean(ed).  The capped honey should extend to the edges of the frame where possible.  The frame should be well presented, but the judge must be able to get at it to taste the honey and see both sides.

Wax should be clear and bright.  Preferable cast in an appropriate mould, but it can be a block of something more designed.

Entrants’ details should be on a piece of paper attached to the submission by something like an elastic band. Do not use a sticky label to put your name and mu,ber on it. All submissions must be anonymous as they go before the judge.

Here are some judging notes that should help contestants.

The next show to look forward to is the Mt Barker Show in March 2023.  I’ll be doing that one too so look forward to seeing your submissions there as well.
