The BSSA are lucky to have an incredible patron who promotes and supports the society and our causes |
Sophie ThomsonSophie Thomson describes her self as an obsessive-compulsive gardener. She communicates her love of gardening, nature and bees through being the SA presenter on ABC TV’s Gardening Australia, gardening talkback on ABC Radio, weekly gardening columns in the Sunday Mail, as well as numerous garden talks and public events. She opens her own garden ‘Sophie’s Patch’ twice a year at public events which the BSSA is part of. |
SIMON BRYANTAdelaide celebrity chef, television presenter and festival director for Tasting Australia (Australia’s pre-eminent Food and Wine festival) Simon is a passionate advocate of using menus to throw light on the minefield of ethical issues surrounding food. Whether it be fair prices for producers delivering more thoughtfully produced food; using best practice ingredients with minimal environmental impact; the responsible and culturally appropriate use of Australian native foods; or the ethical treatment of animals in the food chain. A hands-on cook of simple, pared-down, produce-driven, honest cooking that tastes better than just a bunch of words on a menu. |
