Would you like to apply for membership of the Beekeepers' Society of South Australia? If so, please take the following steps:

  2. Complete the form and post it to our address, which you will find at the bottom of the form
  3. If you do not have Adobe Reader and would like to install it so that you can use that version, a link to the download site is also provided.

Monthly Meetings

COMING EVENTS 2010

  • Tuesday1st June- Insurance for beekeepers
    5 minute talk - beekeeping gadgets, preparing honey exhibits for Royal Adelaide Show.
  • Tuesday 6th July - Hive management; preparing for Spring
    5 minute talk - Spring management, Sackbrood and Nosema disease, Royal Adelaide Show preparation.
  • Tuesday 3rd August - The Smith Family Sponsorship program for needy children
    The AGM and election of office bearers will follow the General Meeting.
    Strictly Beekeeping - Hive strength and the brood box, Varroa mite; non-chemical management.
  • Tuesday 7th September - New directions in beekeeping by Trevor Langley
    Strictly Beekeeping - Swarm management, creating new colonies
  • Tuesday 5th October - Bees and urban ecology
    Strictly Beekeeping - Brood box disease check, space for queen to lay, hive mats, new foundation, when to add supers.
  • Tuesday 2nd November - Experiences as a sea captain by Simon Barnes
    Strictly Beekeeping - New season honey tastings, section and cut comb.
  • Tuesday 7th December - Christmas dinner (6.30pm)

FIELD DAYS (Practical Beekeeping)

BSSA has hives at Urrbrae Agricultural High School. John Sibley will demonstrate practical aspects of beekeeping.

John is also happy to provide additional instruction at other times if required.

The field days are a must for all new beekeepers
